National 3rd GSI Pontivy – Dol-de-Bretagne, Saturday (18:00)
Sigh of relief. This is what Jérôme Prévost, the Pontivian president, and his entire team had to promote eight days ago. Passing the mountain trap, GSI offered themselves a much more affordable round 4 of the Coupe de France next weekend than the previous one with a trip to Quimper Penhars (D1). But before scheduling this date, GSI must get points in the N3 championship and start the streak.
The group is almost complete
Facing a team from Dol-de-Bretagne who are developing for the first time at this level, the Gésists want to be careful. “We are not expecting an easy match. Of course they have two defeats, but it was against top teams (Dinan and Milizac),” said coach Philippe Pinson. After a very worrying first week of September, he finds an almost complete group (Castets, hit in the thigh, is the only one missing): “Before the match at TA Rennes, we had a headwind. A virus passed there and leveled three quarters of the team. It was demanding both physically and mentally and we didn’t have a match there. The cup game allowed us to get back to what we wanted to do,” says Pinson.
Young people show their noses
GSI will be able to rely on their forward Antoine Hequet (3 goals in 3 games since resuming) and a medium that has surprise recruits Noah Nabé (Lorient) and Loup-Aël Guégan (Plabennec) who have been involved in the last two games . “They are ahead of the times. They were originally supposed to play mainly in R1. But it turns out that they already work well. They have technical precision and are very demanding, with a very good mind,” explains Pinson.
